Description This Haitian Kreyòl (Creole) song is an ochan–a salutation directly addressed to an iwa (spirit) or other honored recipient. This particular ochan is addressed to the Voudou iwa Ossagne, and wasperformed in Haiti during one of the music festivals known as a rara on Easter Sunday, 1992. TRANSCRIPTION: KREYÒL: “M’ap antre ak tout kò divizyon mwen, Osanj, o. Ou pa tande PalèNasiyonal? Lese koule.” ENGLISH: “I am arriving with my regiment, Ossagne, oh. Don’t you hear [about the] National Palace? Let it flow.”
